Slatwall is the name of the boards that make up the wall for a SpaceGain system. The cabinets or accessories then hang from the Slatwall.

Is Slatwall durable?
Yes, Extremely. Our Slatwall is made from a thermally fused laminate. It is a commercial grade product that is very durable and is a perfect material for high traffic areas such as a garage.

If Slatwall covers the wall, will I be able to get to my electrical outlets?
Yes, access to outlets, telephone jacks or water lines is simply accomplished by cutting a hole through the Slatwall.

Is the Slatwall installed from the floor to the ceiling?
It can be, but we recommend you install the slatwall 12" - 18" above the floor. This space will allow access for additional storage below, sweeping and washing. Most customers install a 6' high section of slatwall so the slatwall will be 7' - 7 1/2'.

How much weight can the cabinets hold?
A properly installed cabinet can hold up to 200 pounds.

Should the cabinets have doors, or be open?
This is a matter of opinion. Some customers like an open cabinet that is easy to see inside and get to items. Putting doors on the cabinets keeps the content "dust" free and provides a neat, clean look.

What type of hinges are used on the doors?
SpaceGain uses a commercial grade 100 degree European door hinge. This is the most durable door hinge used in the cabinet industry. By using this type of hinge, SpaceGain knows that their doors will hang straight for years.

How do I determine what I will need for my garage?
SpaceGain is a modular system that can accommodate any garage. To come up with a design for your garage a SpaceGain specialist can come to your house or you can use the Garage Grid work sheet provided in the products page to come up with a design.

Is SpaceGain difficult to install?
No. We recommend two people for the Slatwall installation and then one person can install the cabinets.

Can SpaceGain be professionally installed?
Yes. A SpaceGain certified professional installer can install your custom storage design. For exact installation pricing, a SpaceGain specialist will require a visit to your house to review the scope of work.
